Music and Inspiration for Photography (a personal rant)

Recently I have been asked this question: “Do you get inspired by music?”
I would like to share my answer to this question with all of you:

Yes I do, but e.g. while I was creating my The Life of Gummy Bears photography project I often got inspired to make a particular photo while listening to some music. In retrospect I have to say I’ve never got inspired while listening to a “computer song”. What is a computer song, you ask? It is a kind of song/music made by one person using her computer to make sounds, beats and such to make music instead of people playing musical instruments.

Why didn’t I get inspired by a computer song? In my opinion when I compare a “1 singer & no-person-computer band” to a “1 singer & 4 people playing musical instruments and sometimes singing”, the computer band sounds flat, empty and lacking human feelings & emotions to me.

I love computers, don’t get me wrong, but a computer band does not inspire me as much as human band in which each member makes music with love.

Do you agree? Am I wrong? Let me know what you think!

Music is a highly personal thing but for me when I'm editing, on the computer (or back in the days when I had a darkroom), I prefer music that doesn't have a fast intense beat or loud vocals only cause I don't want to get jarred/shaken while working. At the same time though I'm not a fan of ambient because the beat is too much of a drone, bothers my nerves. LOL

Music is a big part of my life and I suppose in some way I do get inspired by it but I must admit that I don't "use" it to be inspired…if that makes sense.
