Black and White Street iPhoneography – product of 40 hrs without sleep

On Friday January 28th, 2011 I was watching the amazing “Life in a Day” film streamed live from Sundance via YouTube from about 2 till 5 AM. I could’t sleep after I was about to get up in 2 hours so I spend these two hours “thinking”. Then I decided to go to take some street photos with my iPhone. I spent all morning walking around Prague and photographing whatever caught my attention.

I wasn’t really planning on using the photos for anything else but for posting them on Instagram. But in the evening while I was backing up the photos via iPhoto I pressed the “play” hot key on my keyboard so I can listen to some music while backing up over 200 images. But instead of launching iTunes it started to play a slideshow of the morning street shots in iPhoto. “Wait! It looks pretty nice, let’s do something more with this photos”, I told myself. So I made a slideshow. Even though I haven’t slept for over 30 hours by now I started editing about 200 photos which I reduced down to about 60. After that I imported them to Aperture so I can quickly process them. I decided to make the photographs all black and white and cropped if I found it necessary or benefiting the image. When I was finished the processing I made a simple slideshow in iPhoto. As I was writing this post it had been 40 hours without sleep so I decided to go to bed and post this post and the slideshow on Monday. I was and still am hoping you like it. My recommendation is: watch it in HD. :)

P.S. Besides sharing the slideshow with you I will post most of the photos here on my blog. But because I have 70+ street photographs which fit into 940 by 940 pixels  which takes about 20MB of space and I don’t want to compress or downsize the resolution a lot so I will divide them into 3 or 4 posts which I will be sharing here with you every day starting tomorrow (Tuesday) until I ran out of photos. It was a lot of fun, I might do more of this.
