The More Talented You Are The Less Stuff You Need
If you’d tell me I should watch a movie which takes place in one room and is about two people having a conversation I probably wouldn’t expect it to be extraordinary. And yet a word ingenious came to mind right after I’ve seen it. I am talking about The Sunset Limited film which I had an opportunity to watch the other day. It is based on Cormac McCarthy’s book and was directed by Tommy Lee Jones. The two main characters are played by Tommy Lee Jones and Samuel L. Jackson who are having a deep and meaningful conversation which goes far beyond the room throughout the movie. But the best thing (besides the conversation) is the visual richness of the movie. Visual richness in one room of a New York public housing projects apartment?
One room, two actors, one conversation are not enough for a great movie, one might think. But you know what they say: the more talented you are the less stuff you need to make great things. The Sunset Limited is a perfect example of it. I like this kind of reminders. :)
P.S. I used to have a separate personal blog where I was sharing post like this, but it was to cumbersome so I canceled the other blog and will be sharing more personal stuff here.
